Article Summary

It's never too early to start laying the foundations of good sleep patterns. Here's how to begin with the basics of a bedtime routine, and a reminder of the importance of putting your newborn to sleep on their back.
SLEEP:

As you know, your newborn is likely to be sleeping between 16 and 18 hours a day, divided into a maximum of two to four hours between feeds. And, just like your older child did when he was tiny, she too will need gradually to learn the quite difficult task of differentiating between night and day. So it’s a really good idea to chat away merrily to both your children during daytime feeds, but to keep lights dimmed and stimulation low during night time feeds.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
