It's definitely more challenging to get out and about now there's more than one child to think about but that's no reason to miss out on family fun. Forward planning can help things run more smoothly.
FAMILY:

Once you are sure that your new baby is developing well, there’s absolutely no need to stay home all the time. This is particularly important not only for the baby, but also for you and your older child.

So, what about planning the first full family outing towards the end of this first month? Since the baby will probably drop off to sleep from the rocking of the pram or the car, you can choose somewhere really special for your older child such as an ice-cream parlour. The adults will probably love that choice of venue too!

To make things easier for yourself, do remember to feed and change the baby before you leave, and make sure you take along your partner or a friend, just in case the older child wants to go to the bathroom. Juggling a pram or a sleeping baby on your shoulder while you accompany your older child to the bathroom can be quite a challenge. In general, try to think ahead and make family outings as pleasant as possible for all concerned.
