New babies are just learning how to focus and see images clearly, so they really appreciate the strong contrast of black & white. Watch their response to the smiling faces activity cards.

    Learning & growing

Although babies can see at birth, they needs lots of opportunities over the next few months to develop their ability to focus, track and view things from a distance. By 3 months, your baby is able to track and follow an object and look directly at it, a developmental milestone that coincides with them 'discovering' their hands. An appreciation for colours develops at about 4 months. Depth perception and the ability to see things further away are in place by 9 months.
